Video: Life of the Rachites

We made a mockumentary about a group of species called Rachites, which is their Latin name. We derived the word Rachites from the word ratchet, which is a term used to describe someone acting rowdy or ghetto in public. I loved  making this video because it was so funny and so much fun, if I could do something different it would be to make it longer, maybe into a mini-movie or something. Our approach was more of an "Animal Planet" vibe and I thought that was pretty funny because we made it look like Rachites were a type of an animal. I was the director of the movie, I wrote the script and directed every scene that was recorded.

Our tutorial video was about how to braid hair and my job in the group was to record the video. If I could do anything differently, I would probably like to do a longer video so we can show the different types of braids. The hardest part about producing the video was the actual recording itself, because we had to do a lot of different takes to get the video right. The easiest part was the editing because we just took all the pieces and put them together to make what we wanted.

Career Website

It was a bit harder to create a website this time around because we were doing it on our own, without instructions from the teacher. I liked it better though because it taught me how to make a website, because I tend to really grasp new skills when I complete something on my own. Also, creating my website on my career gave me another opportunity to research my field and learn more about it.

Web/Media Design

Creating a website has been easy so far, but I think it will get harder. As if right now, I do enjoy the class, but I'm not overly interested in this subject.

Sight Video

The video the college students made commenting on the Google glass was kind of creepy. At first it was really cool because the actor could do anything and go anywhere just through his eyes. He was using that technology just to have fun and he wasn't causing harm to anyone. As soon as he went on the date though and he started to analyze her through his sight, it became creepy. Then at the end, she wanted to leave his apartment because she thought he was a game/app junkie and he basically took control of her mind and would not let her go. To me it seemed like the future of date rape, which was scary and very creepy. I do think this type of technology is possible and that in itself scares me. This technology could be used for other things like for leisure, work, or other harmless things but as soon as it ends up in the wrong person's hand, it could be chaos.
